FAQ-Education Institutes
The Ministry of Education's LMMF Host Family Program focuses on culture exchange. Unlike paid Homestay Program in many countries, most of the LMMF Host Family events take place on weekends and holidays. LMMF Host Family Program welcomes committed host families through invitation and recommendation from education institutes. It provides a nationwide network and allows students to participate in host family events across regions. The new LMMF Host Family Program platform also provides host families, education institutes, and students with a more convenient and friendly experience. The NISA Office handles operation, training and inquiries from the host families, so the education institutes will get no hassle form it.
The education institutes are the important facilitator of student's participation in the host family program, either by organizing events that students and host families are invited to attend, or by encouraging students to apply for an account on the LMMF Host Family Program platform.
Matchbox is the nickname of LMMF Host Family Program, which provides a three-way channel for education institutes, families, and students to initiate events and make matches. Education institutes can initiate culture events on Matchbox for families to sign up. Also, education institutes can encourage international students to sign up for host family events.
In 2023, the NISA Office organizes LMMF Program info seminars twice a year to deliver information of new features and how to access Matchbox. Education Institutes are invited to participate.
Students' well-being is our major concern. To provide a better, safe and nationwide arrangement, we rely on education institutes' support by inviting more committed families to join the LMMF Host Family Program.
Education Institutes are encouraged to invite their staff members and alumni to become host family. Template of an invitation letter is attached in the education institute handbook. Host family applicants will indicate their referee on the application form.
Each year education institutes organize various culture activities for international students to learn about Taiwan. It is a great opportunity to invite host families in some of these activities to interact with international students.
To invite host families, the event coordinator simply needs an account on Matchbox. Events can be initiated on Matchbox after application is approved.
There is no limitation of the number of account for education institute.
