What the Clam? Qigu Fishery Education Experience

Itinerary:
11:00–12:00 Lunch & Ice-breaker
12:00–12:10 Gather and depart from NCKU to the destination
12:10–13:00 Transfer time
13:00–13:20 From Past to Present: Introduction to Qigu's geography and aquaculture industry

13:20–14:00 Clam Lecture: A short seminar on hard clams
14:00–14:10 Transfer time
14:10–14:50 Lagoon Exploration: Guided tour of Qigu Lagoon and surrounding aquaculture landscape

15:10–16:30 Clam & Farm Experience: Hands-on clam farming activities and clam grading

Introduction:
The shallow clam ponds are perfect for both adults and children to experience together. However, What the Clam? is more than just an activity of getting into the water—it also guides you to discover Qigu, a land where people and birds coexist. You will learn how local fishers uphold the values of ecological balance and sustainable aquaculture to protect this marine environment.
For those who have joined the event, clams will no longer be seen merely as a delicious dish on the table, but as a symbol carrying the culture and stories of this place. This journey is truly worth it!

“A Taste of the World: Cultural Exchange Day at Old Pot Farm”
To give host families a chance to connect with lovely international students from around the world, NISA is organizing another exciting event!
This time, we’re heading to the charming and culturally rich Old Pot Farm in Hsinchu, where participants will get to know one another through ice-breaker games and hands-on traditional Taiwanese food DIY. Enjoy an afternoon of chatting, making, and learning together in a relaxed atmosphere—while experiencing the richness of Taiwan's food culture!

【Additional Notes】
1. A separate email will be sent to collect insurance information for each family member. Kindly respond within 3 days to ensure smooth processing.
2. Participants requiring a shuttle, please meet at Zhunan Train Station East Exit (Weixin Rd.) by 12:35 PM.
3. If coming on your own, please arrive at LaoGuo Leisure Farm by 1:00 PM.
4. A pre-departure notice will be sent via email 3 days before the event—please keep an eye on your inbox.
5. While most activities will be held indoors, please bring an umbrella in case of unexpected weather.
6. To support sustainability, please bring your own water bottle.
7. As the weather may be hot, we recommend wearing light and breathable clothing.
8. In the event of a typhoon, we will follow Taichung City and Hsinchu City Government’s class/work suspension announcements to decide whether to cancel. Any changes will be announced the day before the event.
