【NISA】“Explore Hakka Village! Meet Meinong” Hakka Rural Cultural Exchange Experience Day

Event Description：
During the “Exploring Hakka Villages! Encounter Meinong” Hakka Rural Cultural Exchange Experience Day, participants stepped into the Hakka village of Meinong, temporarily leaving behind their busy daily routines to spend a day experiencing authentic rural life and Hakka culture.
Everyone gathered at the Meinong Hakka Village Teaching Farm, where the day’s activities began surrounded by sunshine and beautiful countryside scenery.
Starting with the traditional earth kiln DIY activity, participants worked together to build the kiln, start the fire, and prepare the kiln cooking process by hand. Through this experience, they not only learned about traditional rural cooking methods, but also realized the importance of teamwork. While waiting for the food to cook, the atmosphere was filled with lively discussions, excitement, and warmth.
Through the ice-breaking traditional folk games, participants from different backgrounds gradually became familiar with one another. The interactions and games helped bring people closer together, making the event not only a cultural experience, but also the beginning of genuine human connections and meaningful exchanges.
The stone-ground rice noodle (Ban Tiao) making experience also gave everyone a deeper understanding of traditional Hakka food culture. From operating the stone mill to making Ban Tiao by hand, every step reflected the Hakka people’s values of diligence and resourcefulness.
During lunchtime, participants enjoyed authentic local Meinong cuisine together, experiencing the warmth and hospitality of sharing a meal around the same table.
The Lei Cha DIY activity and traditional Hakka mochi-pounding experience brought the atmosphere to its peak.
From grinding tea leaves, peanuts, and sesame seeds to pounding chewy rice cakes by hand, every step allowed participants to gain a deeper appreciation of the Hakka spirit of cooperation and sharing. For many participants, it was their first time experiencing traditional Hakka food-making, and they found it both fascinating and unforgettable.
On this day, we did not simply participate in an event.
Rather, through the land, the culture, and the interactions with one another, we truly experienced the value of “encounter” and connection.
